Four Old Bad Managers

My reaction to the Phillies' hiring of Davey Lopes, Art Howe, and Jimy "f'n" Williams as coaches was disgust. Hire three former managers on the same day, all of whom will be competing for the Phils' job should they decide to fire Charlie, then expect a cohesive unit next spring? I don't think so. If they are going to fire Manuel, and they should, just do it already, don't bring in the next three contenders as coaches. Personally, I would have fired Manuel right after the season ended, and immediately tried to sign Joe Girardi, who I think would have succeeded Torre in the Bronx if HE had been fired. John Russell would be next on my list, and really that's bias coming from the success both Girardi and Mike Scioscia have had with young teams on the Major League level. Jimy Willams and Charlie Manuel in the dugout, Davey Lopes and Art Howe waving runners home into outs that will cost ballgames. I can't help but wonder if they contacted Joe Carter also, but he said no?
